Hello
I’m Ryan. I live in Wiltshire, England, with my husband Richard and
our springador dog, Bellamy, my furry creative muse!
About me
Though I never envisioned myself as a writer, storytelling has always been a part of my life. My journey began at age 10 when my teacher assigned a short story for homework. I was so excited that I rushed through dinner to write a spooky tale about two kids alone in a house hearing strange noises. A week later, my teacher praised my story and read it to the class, earning me applause and a prize at the school assembly. That experience was unforgettable, and I knew then I wanted to tell stories. However, dreams shift, especially when you’re young, and being dinosaur-obsessed, I wanted to be a “fossil digger” …or now I believe they’re palaeontologists.
In secondary school, my dream changed again. My love for films made me realise I wanted to be the next Steven Spielberg. I went on to college and studied film and television, and joined the college magazine, writing articles for my fellow students. After college, I pursued scriptwriting at university, though I eventually realised it wasn't for me. I then worked in marketing and communications for the arts sector, but during the 2020 pandemic, I finally found the time to write again. And Keepers of The Crossing was born.
Despite being dyslexic, I never let it hinder my passion for writing. I love exploring various genres, but horror, fantasy, and adventure truly ignite my imagination. Growing up, I rarely saw characters I could relate to, so I hope my books bring joy and representation to readers who, like me, longed to see themselves in the stories they love.
